Just two weeks from release, tickets for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga went on sale Wednesday, May 8 and the early results are encouraging.

If you’ve been reading our 4-week tracking reports in this newsletter and on BoxOfficeTheory.com, you’re aware that we’ve been forecasting a minimum $40 million domestic debut for Furiosa over the three-day Memorial weekend period later this month.

Day one pre-sales mostly lived up to that projection as we’ve compiled preliminary trends from sample markets across various regions of the country.

Key comparisons are varied for a fan-driven, R-rated action franchise picture since the genre tends to land within the PG-13 realm more often than not. For that and other reasons, we’re looking at a mix of similar films across both ratings.
